Amazon Prime Day sees spike in Account Suspensions
Amazon Prime Day 2021 provided the usual cut-price deals for consumers and opportunities for increased business for Sellers - but it also caused an upturn in suspensions on the site.
Thompson and Holt managing partner Craig Gedey has reported a 250 percent increase in suspension enquires to the company in the period covering Amazon’s big annual event.
“It has been among the biggest spikes we’ve seen at any time in recent years,” Gedey explained. “We usually see an upward trend around Amazon Prime Day, and because of the increased traffic on the site that is natural to an extent.
“But this year that went above those trends, and we have noticed that product-based suspensions have been particularly prominent. We have had Sellers contact us about suspensions for IP infringement, inauthentic items, valid tracking rates and prohibited items.
“It would be simple to put the increase simply down to the fact that more people are buying products on site during the Amazon Prime Day promotion. But our figures went above what we would usually expect, and I believe that is down to Amazon’s systems for detection working better with each year.
“They have put a lot of resources into clamping down on the issues mentioned in recent years, and that is beginning to show now, particularly at times when Sellers may be more inexperienced and looking to take advantage of the opportunities provided by Amazon Prime Day for the first time.
“If you are relatively new to selling on Amazon it’s important to be well versed in their suspension protocols and the kind of practises you must avoid to be able to trade on the site. If you’re not, you run an increasing risk of being suspension and taking your business offline at the most opportune times, because of Amazon’s improving systems.
“If you are new to the site and have found yourself suspended, or if you’re more experienced but have found yourself excluded because of Amazon’s increasingly detailed processes, contact Thompson and Holt to get yourself back selling online in the quickest time possible.”
